Level One:

Lay Christian Counselor

  • Purpose:
    This level is for individuals who feel a calling to serve their community through faith-based, non-professional counseling. Lay Christian Counselors often provide spiritual guidance and emotional support in churches, small groups, or community settings. The focus is on using biblical principles to help individuals navigate life challenges, building a bridge to higher-level counseling when needed.
    Lay Christian Counselors are not required to have formal academic qualifications but must have a passion for serving others and a deep understanding of Scripture.
  • Requirements:
    • Church membership and a pastoral reference.
    • Diploma or Associate degree in biblical studies, theology, or a related field.
    • Completion of CACCP’s foundational counseling training program.
    • Agreement with CACCP’s Code of Ethics and Statements of Faith.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Offer basic faith-based guidance.
    • Refer cases requiring professional care to higher-certified counselors.
    • Serve under the supervision of a pastor or higher-level counselor within the church.
  • Benefits:

  • Cost:
    • Application Fee & Membership : $75

      Certification Fee: $75
